Guam - The Department of Corrections is making progress in the hiring of manpower needed to run its facilities. And although it may not make a significant dent it is a start, DepCor director Jose San Agustin says the six officers just hired are Basic Law Enforcement Academy certified and will not need to undergo the regular three month training period.
"We are looking at these folks being in training in house for at least six weeks at the most and more than likely we should be able to employ them into the different housing units assignments, but currently this week we just started their training," he explained.
San Agustin says their training will focus on a few key areas that were once not as emphasized, such as focusing on ethics, individual duties and responsibilities, inmate rights and reinforcing transport procedures.
