Guam - It's not just George Washington High School and the Guahan Academy Charter School that need help.
In a letter addressed to Governor Eddie Calvo on Monday, Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez requests that Calvo support recently introduced legislation that would support school facilities and maintenance, specifically Bill 225 and Bill 226.
Citing reports conducted in the past three years that reviewed DOE school facilities, Fernandez notes $90 million in deferred maintenance system wide that must be addressed according to an Office of Insular Affairs report.
To do this, Fernandez proposes a system wide master plan for prioritizing future capital improvements to all schools.
