Guam - While in DC the governor attended the U.S. Climate Preparedness Task Force's first meeting.  The governor as we reported was appointed by the president to serve on this task force along with other leaders from across the United States. Eddie Calvo is the only republican governor and the only member from the Western Pacific region to serve in this group. Today he entered the opening session with the perspective that he is a voice, not just for Guam, but for our neighboring islands as well. Calvo noted that the Pacific islands are some of the most vulnerable to the impact of climate change and are currently experiencing impacts such as rising sea level, heavy precipitation, and ocean acidification. He added these issues affect not only our environment and natural resources, but also our economy, population, and infrastructure.
