Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital is one step closer to establishing an urgent care facility.

This follows the final meeting of the urgent care planning committee held earlier this afternoon.

As we've been reporting, the planning committee was established as part of Public Law 32-60 relative to limited gaming taxes with 60% of the proceeds to benefit the urgent care.

Hospital administrator Joseph Verga says the draft plan to be presented to lawmakers is being circulated among committee members for comments.

Verga hopes to have the draft ready for GMH board approval by the January meeting with hopes to open an urgent care as early as late spring or early summer of 2014.
