Hubtech sentenced in federal court for lying to government

Hubtec International Corporation was sentenced to probation in the District Court.

Guam - Hubtec International Corporation was sentenced to probation in the District Court. The company and its president Young Kim entered into guilty pleas for making false statements in connection with the Route 2 road construction project.  The two agreed to cooperate with federal authorities and admitted to lying to the feds about the materials used on the federal funded project.

Kim admitted he used Korean steel and submitted false reports on two tests regarding the quality of the reinforcement steel bars that were used for the project.

The court imposed an $800 fine and ordered restitution be paid in the amount of $150,000 to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
