Final resolution adopted for ferry service between Guam and Rota
Guam - It was earlier this week when Guam senators introduced a resolution to promote affordable alternative regional transportation between Guam and the CNMI by means of commuter and cargo vessels.
And just as the CNMI legislature's speaker supported the intent, so have the other islands as the association of Pacific Island Legislatures board of directors adopted its own resolution in favor of interisland shipping in their home islands.
"We also look at the high cost of high fuel for the islands and bringing a ferry service or a cargo vessel to the islands and working a sea transportation from one place to another will bring a positive addition and work with decreasing or looking at working with a high cost of fuel around the islands, said Senator Tina Muna Barnes. She adds that she's encouraged by the regional support and hopes to learn from delegates in order to avoid any obstacles.
