Guam - The Navy and the Guam Police Department have been working together to solve two separate assaults on military personnel. GPD's Criminal Justice Strike Force Team arrested eight people in connection with the assault of three U.S. Marines last weekend at the Sling Shot ride in Tumon.
Rear Admiral Tilghman Payne issued a comment on Facebook expressing his deepest appreciation for the hard work of GPD's officers, stating, "Your dedication to finding the individuals who allegedly assaulted our service members resulted in several arrests and made Guam a safer place for everyone to enjoy."
In light of the two recent, unrelated incidents, Joint Region Marianas advised personnel to take simple precautions when going out on liberty by staying in groups, using the buddy system, being aware of their surroundings and avoid getting into potentially dangerous situations.
