Guam - Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio says he will be meeting with Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz, the Bureau of Budget Management & Research as well as the Department of Administration this Friday to discuss the issue of hiring at the Department of Corrections.  As we reported during a recent oversight hearing with doc, the vice speaker was critical of management for dragging its feet on hiring new officers.

The Lt. Governor said the Administration has a clear record of supporting DOC and protecting our families, adding the bottomline is the process of hiring 24 new officers and recruits started weeks ago, even though the fiscal year just started on October 1st.  Tenorio says BBMR cleared the request for recruitments two weeks ago. Six recruits will take their polygraph tests next week and 18 corrections officers will be hired through the merit process thereafter.

Additionally, Tenorio said about 19 critical positions in DOC will be filled through internal promotions.
