Calvo signs bills into public law

Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo put pen to paper this morning signing several bills into law. Among the measures include Senator Aline Yamashita's Bill 153 also known as the Nana Yan Patgon Act relative to the rights of nursing mothers along with Senator Tommy Morrison's Bill 140 relative to the E-911 surcharge.

"If a mom decides to breastfeed, which is healthy, which helps the curb the diseases that our children go through, which lowers the rates of diseases for our moms, which really is a bonding issue, just really helps healthy development start what a great way to start life," said the governor. "We know that it's not had a home for the past five years, it actually moved five times, and our goal is to find a permanent home, modernize the system and address ADA issues as well."

Governor Calvo also signed Bill 193 relative to informed consent along with Bill 195 establishing the Infant Child's Right to Life Act was also signed into law. You can read the complete list of bills on GuamLegislature.com.
