$1.6M in promised compensation checks to be mailed
Close to $1.6 million in promised compensation checks are set to sent out on Monday.
Guam - Close to $1.6 million in promised compensation checks are set to sent out on Monday. The Department of Administration spent this past week processing the claims from over a dozen agencies owed to employees and former employees who were never paid for additional duties they performed or for civil service or court ordered payments. Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio says it's another obligation this administration is following through in paying off.
"We need to clean up our books and we got these debts - people have sometimes have separated from the government and are still owed these compensations. It's about time for us to pay some of these things," he told KUAM News.
This payment covers only what has been claimed by agencies as of last Monday, as DOA is still waiting for other claims from autonomous agencies which will not be included in the run next week as it takes time to process them. Those employees and former employees expecting promised comp should contact their respective fiscal officer.
