The usually bustling streets of Central Guam were nearly empty Wednesday morning, as Typhoon Sinlaku moved slowly across the island — bringing prolonged, hazardous conditions. Strong wind gusts knocking down trees and loosening power lines overnight.

Meanwhile, widespread power and water outages continue to be reported. As of 7pm Tuesday, the Guam Waterworks Authority reports 79 wells online — 19 connected to the island-wide power system, and 60 running on standby generators.

The Guam Power Authority also suspended aerial operations late Tuesday due to dangerous conditions.

Both agencies say restoration efforts will resume as soon as it is safe — with GPA crews seen gassing their vehicles to begin the process late Wednesday morning.

Damaging winds of 39 miles per hour or higher are expected through Wednesday evening, continuing to pose risks to public safety and infrastructure.
