Guam - The Government of Guam continues to meet the six-month deadline as part of the permanent injunction over tax refund payments. In fact, according to Department of Administration director Benita Manglona, they continue to be ahead of schedule.

She says on this past Halloween, $2.8 million was paid out accounting for close to 1,200 taxpayers for those who filed up to June 13. "We just hope that there's no overriding conditions of the economy, but it is our goal to meet that timeline and we have succeeded in doing that and continuously paid tax refunds since we came into office, that was our goal to update the tax refund payments and I think we have succeeded in that," she said.

Manglona says because people continue to file late returns, it's hard to tell how much is left to pay out. She does however add that the amount is manageable as GovGuam continues to set aside the monthly requirement for the tax refund account.
