A grateful island reflects on Veterans Day
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Today we reflect on those who were called to arms and those who have volunteered and sacrificed their time and even their lives for our great nation. This Veterans Day a special ceremony was held at Adelup to recognize those men and women who fought wars and are protecting and defending our freedom and the liberty we enjoy.
U.S. Army veteran Jose Torres asked residents to take time to reflect on the sacrifices and thank a veteran today, saying, "There's so many reasons for you to remember veteran's day one of them is that people are veterans have entered into a life that is very dangerous and have fought for us citizens and especially with the veterans those who have died for us knowing that they have fought so that we can enjoy our life in our community also that the enemies of our country doesn't get to our front door."
And U.S. Air Force veteran Juan Baza added, "The country is what it is because of the people who have protected it all these years, that why I didn't mind serving."
On behalf of all of us at KUAM, we thank you veterans for your service, your commitment and dedication.
