Guam - Just as Veterans Day approaches, the Guam International Airport Authority unveiled the Fallen Brave of Micronesia digital memorial this morning in the airport's east ticket lobby. Airport marketing program coordinator Elfrie Koshiba says this is a new modern way to honor the region's soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for enduring freedom.
She said, "So we thought of digital monitor that would display them on a rotational basis so everybody gets some view time on the monitors and we have a dedicated wall that we fixed up pretty with a little plaque to memorialize it. So we're very happy to unveil that and to continue this honor - we have a lot of our brothers and sisters serving, we have their families, those who have passed, of course we will not forget."
The banners the airport started creating in 2006 for the fallen brave were returned to the Fallen Heroes of the Pacific Foundation and their respective families.
