Guam - The Veterans Affairs Office broke ground today signaling the start of the contract for renovation and expansion of Veterans Cemetery in Piti. Renovation will begin next week with the realignment of all headstones to be directed toward the flag pole.
Relatives of loved ones are advised that flowers and mementos may be placed on the graves in observance of All Souls Day and Veterans Day but must be removed after November 12, otherwise it will be discarded by cemetery staff. In addition to the realignment, improvements will be made to the unused section of the cemetery towards the rear, adding 1,000 in-ground crypts and one thousand column bariums.
