Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo on Facebook says Ed Ilao failing to get enough votes from senators to be appointed as a member of the Port Authority of Guam's board of directors is a victim of a vicious political campaign that disgusts him to his core. Calvo says he asked Ilao to consider serving the people of Guam as an opportunity to use his business and people skills to make a difference.

Today, Calvo says the Legislature's rejection of Ilao is "A sad day for Guam", adding Ilao is anything but  bad and calls out Senator Tom Ada and Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz for continuing the "character assassination into Ilao and his family leading inquisitions into his private and professional life and suggesting he was doing something wrong."

He adds Ilao's departure from the Port board is a loss for the Government of Guam, but a gain for charities he has helped throughout the years. Calvo further expresses his gratitude for Ilao's service.
