Guam - Wai Kam Ho wanted his federal trial to be delayed as he claims his fugitive wife is on her deathbed. During a pre-trial conference today, Ho's attorney, David Lujan, asked the court to delay the trial as he received a picture of his client's wife, Betsy Tang, who is allegedly on her deathbed as well as a doctor's note.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Karon Johnson vehemently opposed any delay past November 5, saying Tang has allegedly been dying for the last two years.  She fled the island after being charged and Johnson said Tang withdrew $1 million from her Hong Kong accounts and is living comfortably.

Ho, Jennie Pau and William Perez are set to go to trial next month for allegedly running in an illegal gambling operation at the former MGM Spa.  District Court Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood set another pre-trial conference for October 31.

Additionally she denied Lujan's oral motion to delay the trial due to his client's wife's health.
