Guam - Following last week's a "Walk in the Shoes of A Shark" challenge, Senator Dennis Rodriguez has written to Governor Eddie Calvo to address the facilities at the Simon Sanchez High School campus.

As we reported last week, seniors at the Yigo school challenged elected officials and the Department of Education superintendent to line up and eat in the crowded cafeteria as well as sit through a classroom with no working air conditioning unit.

In his letter, Rodriguez noted some of his observations from last Friday's visit as well as some of his suggestions, including Calvo declaring a state of emergency for SSHS.

This would allow GovGuam to mobilize resources immediately to make repairs to deficiencies that pose direct threats to health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

In addition, to tapping on GovGuam resources, he suggests requesting help from the Guam National Guard for skilled labor.
