Guam - Dededo mayor Melissa Savares has reached out to the Yigo mayor, GPD and the Federated States of Micronesia Consul General's Office to address concerns from her constituents about criminal and possible illegal behavior in the village. A Dededo resident was beaten and nearly killed when he attempted to help individuals who were involved in a car crash.
Instead, he and his wife were attacked and beaten by a group of people who were congregating in the nearby jungle consuming alcohol.
"At that initial meeting we wanted to identify or help identify maybe possible suspects that could have been at this location and then motives," said the mayor.
The mayors and police are still trying to determine if the individuals involved in the assault are in a gang. They've also reached out to faith-based organizations and continue to monitor the area.
The jungle area where the group loiters was cleared on Monday.
Police have still made no arrests in connection with the case.
