Guam - There hasn't been much traction with a fire academy despite a memorandum of agreement being signed to officially begin the new cycle.  GFD spokesperson Lieutenant Ed Artero says issues with invoicing of textbooks caused a delay in the start of the Fire Academy.

In the meantime the department has received the green light from the Department of Administration to hire the remaining three firefighters to complete the cycle.  Artero could not give a timeframe of when the academy will begin but says officials are hopeful it will be within the next couple of weeks.
