Man, 50, arraigned for growing marijuana

Guam - 50-year-old David Briggs was arraigned in the Superior Court of Guam today. Last month police raided his Mangilao home where they confiscated more than 100 marijuana plants he had been growing there. He was arrested on charges of possession of a Scheduled I Controlled Substance, possession of a Scheduled I Controlled Substance with intent to distribute, and manufacturing a controlled substance.
In court today he pleaded not guilty to the charges waiving the reading of the indictment, requested for discovery and grand jury proceedings, asserting his right to a speedy trial. Next court appearance is scheduled for August 13 at 2pm.
