Guam - The island's only civilian hospital checks out and receives the gold seal of approval from the Joint Commission of Healthcare Organizations. Guam Memorial Hospital administrator Joseph Verga says the good news means GMH is fully accredited for three years and fully compliant. He adds although the hospital's flatlining finances get the most attention, it should really be patient care and hopes the people of Guam can be proud of GMH as the full accreditation raises the bar. The good news follows an unannounced survey from the joint commission in April. The team consisted of a physician, a nurse, and an administrative engineer to assess the hospital in 14 particular areas.
