CSC reviews claim from former port worker Jose Guevara
by Mindy Aguon
The Civil Services Commission is hearing another terminated port worker's motion to dismiss at this hour. Commissioners will hear from former Port controller Jose "Jojo" Guevara as he fights to get his job back. Guevara contends that airport management violated his due process rights. He was fired because he allegedly voluntarily misrepresented to the Port Board that the funds he had certified for a questionable 70 thousand dollar travel request and authorization was lawfully available. Port management alleges Guevara knew that money was not available and was an unauthorized expenditure. One of the other 7 terminated port workers already won her case before the commission as the CSC ruled that management violated the 60 day rule to serve adverse action.
