Guam - Recognizing all the hard work and unconditional support the staff and management of the Guam Memorial Hospital provide on daily basis, island leaders joined GMH in celebrating National Hospital Week. Governor Eddie Calvo proclaimed May 12-18 as Hospital Week.

Hospital administrator Joseph Verga said, "There's a lot of that goes on behind the scenes of a hospital everyday that folks don't know about and don't see and this is about the recognition and acknowledgment of all the good work that all these professionals do everyday year round."

Employees and volunteers were also recognized with various awards. Verga says this year's theme celebrates the guiding light of changing times of healthcare noting efforts and improvements by GMH along with the Naval Hospital and the new Guam Regional Medical City are all helping push healthcare to new levels and new heights on Guam.
