Guam - The company that owns the Micronesia Mall and a Tumon Mall development now want to open a Tumon night market. The Guam Land Use Commission is in receipt of a request from Grandview Corporation for a tentative development plan for a proposed Tumon night market described as becoming "a unique tourist destination with its special features and location along San Vitores Road."

Acting GLUC chairman Larry Rivera says the request was supposed to be addressed today at its meeting, but was postponed due to a lack of quorum. He explained, "That would benefit the people, I feel we just want to make sure that all the positions statements from the regulatory agencies are addressed and anything that would improve the entertainment or any activity for the tourist and the people we support."

According to documents, the Tumon night market is next to Matapang Beach Park and the Guam Beach Front Residents Apartment building. The property measures at 4,000 square meters and would include 38 individual stalls and a two-story pavilion.

We should note the proposed sight is also across the street from the Tumon mall development now known as the Grandview Shopping Mall. It was back in March when the GLUC approved Grandview's Development plan to move forward with the shopping mall after it took over the project from Ino Corporation.
