Guam - Over $20 million in federal grant money is up for grabs in the next U.S. Department of Education consolidated grant cycle. At a workshop held today, DOE federal programs administrator Ike Santos says 150 public and private school representatives learned how to write an acceptable application to garner such funding and what the funding may be used for.
He said, "The bottom line is that all these monies are going to focus on two things: one is for student academic achievement and the other to address students what can we do to make sure they stay in school."
Santos reports that based on discussions with USDOE, sequestration will have little to no impact on this funding.
