May is Senior Citizens Month, and on Thursday morning seven of Guam's most-senior citizens who are part of an exclusive club of centenarians were honored with resolutions.

Ghandi said, "Where there is love, there is life."

For centenarians Josefina Yamanaka Blas, Hae Im Yu Shim, Cesaria Cruz Arce, Paz Mendiola Sablan, Yuk Lan Moylan, Julian Bryson Wilgus, and Shirley Marie Bridler they are tremendously loved and adored. The seven were presented resolutions by Sen. Amanda Shelton and fellow senators along with the Department of Public Health and Social Services during a ceremony at the Pacific Star Resort and Spa.

"If you think back what this century has been like 100 years ago - the Guam Hymn was written 100 years ago, it was 100 years ago that the 19th Amendment was passed by Congress and women were guaranteed the right to vote. There were these huge milestones. And these are people who lived through so many times of our society. They've seen war and terrible times in their life, but they have persisted," announced Senator Shelton.

For Blas, today is extra special as she celebrates her 104th birthday. The Talofofo resident has 9 children, 43 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren. She attributes her good health and longevity to her faith, love, and devotion to her family and God.

Shim is 102 years young and was born in South Korea. She has made Guam her home for over 35-years. Along with enjoying outdoor activities, she enjoys cooking and eating spicy foods.

At 101, Arce is affectionately known as 'Nana' to her family and is blessed with 55 grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren, and 86 great-great-grandchildren.

Also 101, Sablan fondly known as 'Nanpa' enjoys watching "Young and the Restless," and "Let's Make a Deal."

101-year old Moylan was an active bowler but also enjoyed playing golf every Sunday in Windward Hills.

Bridler who is 100, was only 12-years-old during the Great Depression in the United States. She arrived on Guam in 2005 to join her daughter Dione. She is an extremely talented artisan and has a knack for designing jewelry.

Rounding out this exclusive club is 100-year old Wilgus. He is a talented woodworker and spends much of his time gardening providing veggies for his family and friends.

"They've shown us a great example of what it means to be a thriving and contributing member - they're people for us to look up to and to emulate every day," Sen. Shelton added.
