Guam - A Department of Corrections officer who was terminated last week was arrested by police on Sunday accused of robbing a female tourist. Guam Police Department Spokesperson Officer Paul Tapao says two female tourists reported that a heavyset man ran towards their direction while they were walking down JFK Hill from KMart around 1:30 on Sunday
morning.

The man grabbed one of the tourist's KMart shopping bag from her and ran towards Meskla Dos' jungle line area.  The victim began to chase after him but stopped because there was no lighting in the area.  Police were able to get a description of the suspect vehicle including the license plate number.  Following an all points bulletin, Dededo Precinct officers located the suspect vehicle in the Latte Heights area.

A check of the vehicle showed some of the items that were purchased by the victims from Kmart.

Police arrested Arron Cruz Jessop,31, on charges of robbery and conspiracy.  He was placed behind bars but was released from jail this morning.  The Attorney General's Office has not explained why Jessop was released instead of appearing in court for a magistrate's hearing.  Jessop was one of two Department of Corrections officers who was terminated last week.  Authorities could only confirm that the firings stemmed from an ongoing investigation into a hole that was discovered in the perimeter fence of the Mangilao Compound back in February.

No other information has been released as the investigation continues.
