Guam - A joint oversight hearing with the Attorney General's Office and the Guam Police Department is set for this Tuesday. Both Senator Ben Pangelinan and Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz called for the hearing in light of recent events particularly two incidents of assault and robbery of two women in the last six months.

Cruz commends one of the victims, Monique Baza, for coming forward and speaking about her ordeal. "And for her to come forward and be as vocal as she was admitting she was the victim and calling the community to stand up and speak out, we had to, we had to do something and call the AG in and find out where are we in that respect in trying to figure out what the standard operating procedure is for the implementation of the victims rights act to make sure that victims are notified," he said.

The oversight hearing is set for May 7 at 5:30pm in the Legislature's Public Hearing Room.
