Guam - The second batch of names of those with unclaimed tax refund checks was published today in the governor's Proa newsletter. Today's publication accounts for recipients with last names beginning with letters "G" through "O" totaling about 1,500 names. Governor Eddie Calvo says he's looking at filling the void for those who have unclaimed tax refunds.

He said, "We're hopeful that these claimants will come and get their checks. We want them to have it, take it, put it in a bank, spend it but I don't want it with the Government of Guam. From the previous listing we've had already a claiming of a fifth, over 300 some checks have been sent to the claimants."

Department of Administration director Benita Manglona says the over 300 checks already claimed account for about $340,000 out of the total $19 million in refunds. It was earlier this week when DOA started distributing unclaimed tax refund checks for those with last names beginning with "A" through "F".

The latest listing can start picking up their checks or setting up appointments at the Treasurer of Guam next week. The last listing of names for those with last names beginning with "P" through "Z" will be published next Friday.
