May proclaimed Lupus Awareness Month
by Krystal Paco
Guam - Lupus may affect dozens on island, but not without a fight. For 29-year-old Malojojo resident Selina Villagomez, it meant undergoing a stroke and losing her ability to speak, but as her mother Terry tells KUAM News, Selina is fighter.
"She had lupus when she was 16 and now she's 29 she just gives it all she's got she's a winner just day by day we're still here," she said.
Selina and Terry Villagomez were just one of dozens present at today's proclamation signing, designating May as Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting mainly women of child bearing age in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissues and organs.
