Guam - A huge congratulations to KUAM chief operating officer and executive producer Marie Calvo Monge as she was named the 2013 First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business Magazine Businesswoman of the Year. Monge was selected from nine nominees in this year's annual award program, which recognizes businesswomen who have made significant contributions to their industries and have demonstrated a strong commitment to their community.

Calvo Monge said upon being named, "I think what makes tonight truly special and what I really value is that this program it also serves to inspire our future women leaders  and empower them to pursue their dreams and goals in life through education. And if I can give them advice I would say in order to pursue their dreams you have to surround yourself with people who uplift you and feed your soul with love support and encouragement."

Proceeds from Saturday's gala will go to fund scholarships at the University of Guam, Guam Community College and Northern Marianas College.
