Guam - Department of Education employees are still waiting on their merit bonuses. The good news is they will be paid out.  But the man in charge of public education on Guam announced last week that DOE will apply a three-year statute of limitations when paying out bonuses, which will include certified personnel like teachers and nurses.

"We are moving forward with the office of personnel to begin making the identification of individuals who are eligible for merit bonuses," explained superintendent Jon Fernandez.  He admits it hasn't been easy as DOE has had five different evaluation forms, most of which are paper-based.

The Calvo Administration paid out $4.5 million in meritorious bonuses for GovGuam employees with superior evaluations. That amount however, did not include DOE.

Fernandez hopes to have a better estimate as to how many employees are owed and how much in the next four weeks.
