Guam - The Governor's Office today released a partial list of individuals with unclaimed tax refund checks, some of which date back to 2009. The partial list includes about two-thousand names for individuals with last names beginning with letters "A" through "F".

Governor Eddie Calvo ordered the publication of the names and says it's part of a commitment the administration made even before coming into office. "There's $19 million in checks that are now ready for those folks that have not claimed them and we're going to do everything make every effort to get these checks to those taxpayers and then of course we will be also in the not too distant future be sending more tax refunds that are owed to the people of Guam," he explained.

Department of Administration director Benita Manglona tells KUAM News that a partial list was only released today because DOA has limited resources and can only handle so many people at once. Unclaimed tax refund recipients with last names beginning with "G" through "O" will be published in the May 3 Proa Newsletter, whereas those with last names beginning with "P" through "Z" will be published on May 10.

And in an effort to ensure the safety of the public and avoid long waits in lines, DOA is scheduling check distribution and processing dates for individual tax refunds first. The Department of Administration's Treasurer of Guam will be issuing checks and accepting appointments for those listed today with last names beginning with "A" through "F" beginning Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3.

The list is available in the governor's Proa Newsletter.
