Guam - Preparations for the 26th Guam Micronesia Island Fair are underway. The Guam Visitors Bureau decided to return the fair to its originally scheduled month of May, carrying on a tradition that began in 1987.

GVB deputy general manager Nathan Denight said, "I think it's a great move to put it back in May, of course, that's the harvest time so we are really trying to get more of a work with the Department of Agriculture and the Farmers Co-op to showcase a lot of Guam's unique crops and different even life stock and different things like that from the agricultural sense."

The GMIF will be held on May 17-19 at the Ypao Beach Park in Tumon. The fair will host seven delegations from around the region including representatives from the CNMI, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Yap, Kosrae, the Marshall Islands, and Mauru. The GMIF is part of GVB's 50th anniversary celebration.

Attendees can look forward to an array of vendors, festivities and performances topping off with entertainment by San Diego-based band Tribal Theory. Admission to the fair is free.
