Former Port workers' appeal rescheduled
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Former Port Authority of Guam general manager Mary Torres was expected to testify during a Civil Service Commission hearing this evening in the appeal of a terminated Port worker, but the hearing has been rescheduled. The CSC was informed that the parties would not be available this evening and arrangements are being made to reschedule the hearing of former Port marketing administrator Bernadette Meno.
Torres says she is willing to testify and it is just a matter of all the parties finding a date that they will be available.
Her testimony is expected to support Meno's argument that then-deputy general manager Anisia Terlaje was not authorized or delegated to sign the notice of proposed adverse action that was issued to Meno.
Torres' attorney, Pat Civille says he is not aware that his client was served with a subpoena but says she will certainly testify when called upon.
This eveninf commissioners are expected to proceed with hearing the appeal of former Port personnel specialist Frances Arriola.
Seven Port workers were fired for their role in an alleged conspiracy to defraud the government and cover it up.
