Guam - It was hands-on learning for 180 Tamuning Elementary School 3rd graders as they prepare for next month's SAT-10 testing. Guam Community College science professor Dr. Anthony Jay Sunga says today marks the First Annual Science Symposium sponsored by GCC and the Science is Fun and Awesome Group.

"Our whole goal here is to teach and educate these kids in an interactive way about science, and it all started with an idea of one of the teachers at Tamuning Elementary said, 'Can you teach my students about microscopes and I said I can do more than that ?'" he told KUAM News.

All of today's presentations were objectives covered in the SAT-10 from the solar system to the rainforest, geology and chemistry. Dr. Sunga hopes the symposium will also increase awareness for science, technology, engineering and math education.
