Man sentenced for drug importation
A man who brought a quarter of a million dollars worth of crystal methamphetamine into Guam hidden in a suitcase to pay a gambling debt was sentenced to 41 months in prison with credit for time served.
Guam - A man who brought a quarter of a million dollars worth of crystal methamphetamine into Guam hidden in a suitcase to pay a gambling debt was sentenced to 41 months in prison with credit for time served. Hwang Choi was found bringing the drug Ice into Guam back in May of last year.
He cooperated with authorities and said he was instructed to bring the luggage to Guam by an individual known as "Mr. Lee" in the Philippines. Choi said he thought he was bringing diamonds into Guam. The defense asked the court to consider that he provided substantial assistance to the government.
The court imposed the three years and five month sentence and ordered that he be deported to Korea upon release from the Bureau of Prisons.
