Guam - Some people spend their entire lives chasing a dream and for one Chamorro, that dream becomes a reality along with a viral video of his journey on YouTube. Jon Calvo's has an inspirational weight loss story.

In April 2010 he was morbidly obese standing at 5'5'', weighing 340 pounds. "Some people spend their entire lives trying to fulfill a lifelong dream and I feel I've finally got closer to fulfilling mine," he said.

Now 24-years-old, the YouTube video of his journey has gone viral getting over 1.6 million hits for his successful 185 pound weight drop - once a size 'XXXXXL', now a 'S'. "It feels amazing. I feel like a brand new person. I just went out to buy new clothes," he said.

Although he's only visited the island, his roots are Chamorro - his parents Mark Duenas Calvo, a U.S. Army retiree, and Doreen from the village of Ordot. Calvo says he's battled with his weight all his life. "I've tried dozens of diets I've tried a lot of things and I've always tried to keep it natural no diet supplements pills those things," he said.

He admits the secret to success was within him all along. "99% of the time I've been on this journey I've worked out alone a lot of my friends weren't too interested in working out so I'd always work out alone," he said. "One of the main things is that you can't look for any outside motivation to provide willpower because I say this to a lot of people but it's all on this inside it sounds cliché but it really sounds cliché but it's within you."

For those looking to shed the fat, he says diet must work in conjunction with exercise. Currently, he's managed to maintain a regime of intermittent fasting with macronutrient cycling and strength training even while traveling. "A lot of people use that as an excuse. For me I've been keeping it up because my dad's a retired military so whenever we're driving anywhere or on the move we always stop by a military base and they always have a gym there to use," he said.

Now that he's dropped the pounds, people always ask if he's satisfied with what he sees in the mirror. "I have a lot of excess skin on my chest and my abdominal area that's something I get asked about often. It's something I'm comfortable with. It would be nice if that wasn't that case but I'm content with being the way I am now," he said.
