Guam - Even with the abundance of sources available on the Internet, there's still a need for libraries. That was the message at today's proclamation signing designating the week of April 14 through 20th as Guam Library Week. President of Chamorro Affairs and administrative oversight for the Guam Public Library System Joseph Cameron says this precedes the upcoming groundbreaking for the children's library in Hagatna, which will be side-by-side with a community space for parents.
"The children's library section will be quite interactive the days where you walk into libraries where you go like this - 'shhh!'," he said.
April 16 has also been designated Guam Library Workers Day and April 17 as Bookmobile Day.
Dozens of the island's public school and public library workers were present at today's signing.
