Guam - The situation on the Korean Peninsula hits close to home for a new pastor at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Chul Wan Kim arrived on Guam last week, as he recalled, "I moved to here to pastor for the Korean community. For SDA church."

He's an American citizen and has lived in the U.S. mainland since 1975, but before moving here, he spent two weeks visiting family in South Korea and watched as North Korea ratched up its rhetoric. "Some people negatively react to that because North Korea Army they move to the front line and we know that the political situation and all the army situation they're moving they're preparing for that. So its kind of tensions existing but it's not severe," he said.

He believes it's not severe because South Korea has heard these sorts of threats all too many times. "I cannot expect what they are going to do however they are not really worry about the threat. Because it happened quite a long time many times every time we are used to hear that," he said.

Now that he's here on Guam, he's been watching the news and speaking with his Korean congregation at the SDA Church who also have family in South Korea like the rest of the world they're waiting to see what Pyongyang will do, if anything. He said, "I thinking if they are crazy enough and they don't think about their regional relationship then they'll do that but I don't think they will allow conduct whatever they want to do themselves. Possibility maybe I can say 50 percent yes."

Kim says the bluster from North Korea just further it from the rest of the world. And as for his new home here in the western most point of the United States. He like most people feel safe from an attack from North Korea. "I thinking they cannot do that, because 203 Guam is part of America this is America," he said.
