Guam - Medicaid patients, it's official. After six months of waiting, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved the Guam Medicaid Program State Plan Amendment. This means expanded services for eligible individuals to include coverage for emergency or medically necessary services not available on Guam on the condition the foreign provider is the closest out of country provider and certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

For example, eligible individuals can seek treatment in the Philippines. Governor Eddie Calvo says these efforts are in line with the Calvo Administration's promises to provide more options to Medicaid patients adding, "This is going to go a long way in helping the less fortunate and helping to win the fight against poverty."
