Guam - As part of an educational outreach, the Guam Economic Development Authority spoke before the Guam Medical Association on Thursday night to discuss the qualifying certificate program from its history and process to several misconceptions in the community.
It was at the end of last year when the Guam Regional Medical City applied for a QC, which raised concern from the local medical community. GEDA administrator Henry Taitano says while he couldn't address specific information on the new hospital's application, he did address concerns if and when a QC is awarded and how GEDA plans to assess the impact to the community.
"And I explained that during our process, we have what we call a credit review committee, so not only are we taking the application that was provided, we're also taking the comments done during the public hearing process as well as we bring in a couple of board members and looking at brining in an economist to the credit review committee and that's when really we'll come up with either further discussion or something will be brought to the board," he said.
He adds the new hospital's QC application is still under review with a public hearing possibly in about two months. In addition to updating its website, GEDA does plan on more public outreaches.
