Feds oppose motion to sever Tedtaotao couple's case

Guam - The U.S. Attorney's Office is opposed to Macrina and Eric Tedtaotao having separate trials. Macrina has asked the court to sever the trials as she believes statements her husband made to authorities could be used against her.
In their opposition the government argues that trying defendants together is good for judicial economy and efficiency. According to court documents, when the couple was initially arrested back in August of last year, Eric Tedtaotao reportedly told agents he wanted to cooperate and made a statement that has been filed under seal.
Macrina also made a statement regarding her drug-trafficking activities.
The two along with Bertha Moore - who remains a fugitive - are charged with conspiracy to unlawfully import methamphetamine hydrochloride and unlawful importation of methamphetamine. Macrina and Moore were also charged with possession with the intent to distribute.
The trial is still scheduled to begin on April 23.
