Guam - The USS Freedom is pulling into Apra Harbor tomorrow for a port call. The combat ship left San Diego on March 1 for an eight-month deployment to the Asia Pacific Region. This marks the first of many planned rotational deployments for the Freedom to the Western Pacific.

The vessel's designed to employ modular mission packages that can be configured for three separate purposes: surface warfare mine countermeasures and anti-submarine warfare. While on island dozens of sailors will be volunteering for several community service projects such as helping organize Easter Day events at Saint Dominic's, cleaning up kennels at gain and mentoring students at JFK High School.
