Guam - The Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School held its first model United Nations Pacific-Asia Regional Conference with the help of University of Guam College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and UOG Political Science Student Association. President Jonathan Padios feels the conference is a great experience to student who are participating providing them opportunities to critically think about issue and the research they have conducted.

"The St. Thomas Aquinas Model United Nations Club founded in august 2011 has actively participated in and organized Model UN events in pursuit of educating students about international issues that are relevant to Guam as well as the global community," he explained.

Attending MUN conferences in California and Korea has prepared the organization to hold the first St. Thomas Aquinas MUN Conference. The St. Thomas Aquinas MUN Club members have been working for months to put the conference together. The club members guide the participants in debate as well assist in finding resolution on the topics at hand.

Julia Munoz is the president and secretary general of the club, and said, "In our conference we have four committees each dealing with an different issue for example our social cultural humanitarian deals with humanitarian issues such as indigenous cultures as well as human trafficking."

The conference gathered students from various middle, high school, and college participants at the University of Guam for the three-day conference, which ends on March 27.
