GFD begins interviews for 15 more recruits
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Interviews began today as the Guam Fire Department looks to hire an additional 15 recruits to begin a new fire academy. GFD spokesperson Lieutenant Ed Artero says those who applied for the job two years ago are being considered for the job.
Normally the recruitment listing is only good for one year, but the department of administration made an exception for the fire department. "We requested to department of administration to extend the list this is in good graces to enhance our efforts and our challenges for manpower with our shortages with deployments and retirements so they gave us an extension and we're working off the same list," Artero said.
Artero says the interviews should be completed by tomorrow and a list of names will be submitted to the Department of Administration to begin drug testing and processing. The fire academy is six months long.
