Guam - Earlier this week the Mayors Council of Guam opened the bids for the different categories for this year's Liberation Carnival. And after reviewing and certifying over 80 bids, the winners have been announced.
Executive director Angel Sablan said, "We still have until next Wednesday for all these winning bids to pay up the full amount, but I can announce to you that the casino is run by Guma Mami, they were a winner a couple of years ago and so they're back again."
He says a total of seven organizations bid for the casino with the minimum bid starting at $150,000. As for the other game of chance categories, the Agana Heights Athletes Organization won the bids for the color game, beto-beto and the over and under game; the Haya Cultural Heritage and Preservation Development Foundation won the bid for bingo. Sablan adds while alcohol will be in the casino, no one has yet to bid for alcohol at the carnival noting that the mayors may decide to take it over as a fundraiser or vote to simply make it alcohol free.
The Mayors Council is waiting for full payment of bids by next Wednesday with the winning bid amounts announced on Thursday.
