Guam - The Civil Service Commission held status hearings this afternoon for former Port Authority of Guam marketing administrator Bernadette Stern Meno and former planner work coordinator Leonora Leon Guerrero. The two are among seven workers from the agency who were fired for their role in an alleged conspiracy to defraud the government and then cover it up.
Meno's status hearing was brief since her attorney, Curtis Van De Veld. was in court. Van De Veld has asked the commission to allow them to present a live witness, namely former Port GM Mary Torres, to testify at the hearing about how she refused to sign off on Meno's adverse action. The Port's legal counsel, John Bell, is opposed to the testimony as he believes the request was filed after the motion cutoff date.
Meno's motions are scheduled to be heard on April 16 and 18th.
Leon Guerrero appeared with her attorney, Leevin Camacho, this afternoon. She was terminated for allegedly altering workman's compensation forms related to Meno's injury.
Leon Guerrero's motion hearing is scheduled for June 20.
