Guam - The Civil Service Commission was given the green light to conduct an investigation on behalf of Teresita Leon Guerrero and 20 other University of Guam employees who believe they are entitled to the merit bonus. The employees are among many others in autonomous agencies and the Department of Education who have not been paid the bonuses while line agency employees who were owed over the last two decades were paid.
UOG senior vice president for academic and student affairs Helen Whippy told commissioners the meritorious bonus employees are deserving of the additional pay. "The University of Guam continues its process of ensuring that meritorious bonuses are paid to our meritorious employees. There are still issues concerning previous employees and how and where fund are being identified. Accordingly we - UOG and I - will commit to identifying funds and paying active employees funds owed as we determined based on our research this fiscal year," Whippy explained.
The commission approved a motion to have CSC staff conduct an investigation to verify whether the 21 employees are, in fact, eligible.
